Vaccinations

Vaccinations help to keep your pet well. At Highland Road Animal Hospital we recommend vaccinations for your pet depending on age, lifestyle and risk of exposure on an individual basis.

Please call us today to set up a vaccination schedule for your pet. Some vaccines are administered annually, while other vaccines are recommended every six months or every three years depending upon the vaccine type.

Vaccines which may be recommended include the following:

Dogs

  • Distemper/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza/Parvovirus - vaccine recommended every three years after initial series
  • Rabies - vaccination required every three years (in EBR Parish) after the initial vaccine
  • Leptospirosis - vaccination recommended every year depending on exposure risk
  • Bordetella - vaccine recommended every six months depending on exposure in boarding kennels, dog parks, obedience school, veterinary hospitals or grooming facilities

Cats

  • FVRCP - vaccine recommended every three years following initial vaccine series
  • Rabies - vaccine required by law every three years, but we recommend annually with a non-adjuvant type of vaccine which is safer for your cat
  • Feline leukemia - vaccine recommended for ALL kittens up to one year of age, then annually dependent on risk of exposure
