Skilled Veterinarians and Staff in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
“We can judge the heart of a human by his or her treatment of animals”

Doctors
Dr. Carrie C. Fox
I became hooked on Louisiana when interviewing for veterinary school. Crawfish boils, friendly people, azaleas blooming - what a contrast to the small Baptist undergraduate college I attended! I received my DVM from LSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. I love practicing veterinary medicine, and am constantly surprised and fascinated by the cases I see every day. I love to be challenged. Living in the South, one has to have an interest in dermatology, especially in allergies, but my new interest is in how to help animals that have cancer - different treatments that include chemotherapy and nutrition - so that we can make a difference in their comfort and quality of life.
I was raised an Army brat, and so have lived in many different states, and even overseas, but Baton Rouge has been my home for 20 years. Like many working moms, I am busy, but try to balance my time between HRAH and my husband Tim, three children, and Gator, our new dog.

Dr. Adrian J. Bergeron
I feel extremely fortunate to wake up each morning and know that when I go into work, I will be doing something that I truly love. Throughout my entire life, I have enjoyed working with animals, and I have always been interested in biological sciences. It was, therefore, an obvious choice to become a veterinarian. Practicing at Highland Road Animal Hospital is truly my dream job as I am a native of South Baton Rouge and I have always wanted to raise my family in this area. My interests include surgery, internal medicine, and dermatology, but I truly cherish any opportunity to improve the health and happiness of our four-legged patients. When I’m away from the office, I love spending time with my wife, Katey, my two children, and my two dogs Garrett and Robert (Ro-Bear).

Dr. Sonia Godail
I will never forget the phone call I received from Dr. Thayer (Founder of Highland Road Animal Hospital) inviting me to join his team at Highland Road Animal Hospital. I was thrilled and gladly accepted his offer knowing that I was joining a progressive and highly reputable animal hospital.
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but Baton Rouge won me over once I started LSU and met my husband. Our family consists of two children and two cats: Noah and Thomas.
It gives me great satisfaction in being able to help clients and their pets. I have developed wonderful relationships and am honored to be the care taker of many furry family members.
I enjoy learning new aspects of Veterinary Medicine through continuing education. And I have a special interest in feline medicine and surgery.
I look forward to you visiting our practice and becoming a part of our "family".
Dr. Godail is a member of the following: BRAVMA, AVMA, AAHA, AAFP.

Dr. Jessica Rayburn
I am a native of the Baton Rouge area, and spent most of my childhood in Zachary, LA. I went to ULM in north Louisiana for one year then did the remainder of my undergraduate work at Louisiana State University. I was accepted to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine after only three years of undergraduate work and prior to completing a bachelor’s program. I received my Doctorial degree in 2006. After graduation I spent two years working in a large practice in the New Orleans area where I did both general practice and emergency medicine. I joined the team at Highland Road Animal Hospital in the spring of 2008. While I enjoy all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, I have a special interest in veterinary dentistry. My home is quite full currently with 3 dogs, Sam, Celia, and Buff; Bailey the cat; and a son born in the fall of 2008!

Vet Techs
Mindy Fuchs
I have been a veterinary technician for the past 5 years. I graduated in 2008 from the University of Florida with a Bachelors degree in psychology. I love working with animals and have four of my own. My three cats are named Princess, Baby Blue (Bubu for short), and Flick. It is anyone's guess what kind of mix my dog Baby is, (we think some type of Doberman/Shepherd mix) but she is very smart and so beautiful! For fun I enjoy watching movies, reading, drawing, hanging out with my friends and family, and playing various video and board games.
Melissa Kapler
I am a certified vet technician. I just moved here from Minnesota and I am still getting used to the temperature changes and different pronunciations! I love my job, especially pet dental health, client education, and the kidney/urinary system of animals. I have taken continuing education in those areas and have also become a "CET dental consultant" and a "Feline Health Champion." I have one cat, Alice. I look forward to caring for you and your pet!

I have been with Highland Road Animal Hospital since the summer of 2001. Over the past eight years I have learned a lot of interesting facts about dogs and cats and have seen lots of fascinating cases. It amazes me how animal care has progressed over the years. I have made a lot of new friends and met some very remarkable people while at Highland Road. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, playing cards, reading and spending time with friends and my husband Pancho, our two daughters/spouses and of course my beautiful grandchildren!!
